This just in: This morning FOX has decided to announce their first scripted renewal of the season - the long-running and well-performing drama, Bones. Read on for all of the details around this renewal.
The renewal news of the FOX program comes just days before the series highly anticipated return to the schedule - after a three month hiatus due to Emily Deschanel's pregnancy - in its time slot debut on Monday nights.
Earlier this month, series creator Hart Hanson spoke at PaleyFest '12 that FOX was contemplating picking up for the show for both an eighth and ninth season. Today's renewal was for only one season though.
Executive Producer Stephen Nathan also stated during a conference call with reporters on Wednesday that an eighth season would give the show a chance to tackle several storylines - like more extensive arcs for characters like Hodgins and Cam - that were sidelined due to this season's shortened episode order.
Bones returns to FOX's schedule this upcoming Monday, April 2 at 8/7c after a three hiatus. In their return episode titled "The Prisoner in the Pipe," the remains of an escaped convict are found in a residential sewer, but an examination of the sewer pipes indicates that the murder occurred within prison walls. Brennan insists on solving the crime - despite Booth's pleas for her not to overexert herself - and the expectant couple experiences a very untraditional arrival of their baby daughter.
