After CBS' onslaught of renewals on Wednesday, NBC decided to also get on that train today. This afternoon the network has announced that their first renewal for the 2012-2013 season would be freshmen supernatural Friday hit, Grimm. Read on for all the details.
Despite being tucked away on Friday nights, Grimm has been the brightest spot out of the network's freshmen drama fare this year - with The Playboy Club, Prime Suspect, and The Firm all crashing quickly in the ratings.
The show debuted late in the fall last year against Game 7 of the World Series to a 2.1 in the 18-49 demo which was the highest rated non-sports telecast of the night. To date, the series has aired 14 of its 22-episode first season and has averaged a 1.6 in the demo and 5.5 million viewers. The show also frequently posts the largest increase in DVR Live+7 data - with its most recent episode growing by 87 percent.
Inspired by the classic Grimm fairytales, Grimm follows Portland, Oregon homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt as he discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world.
