TV News - 'Ben and Kate,' 'Go On,' 'The Big Bang Theory,' 'Whitney,' 'Defiance,' 'Suburgatory,' 'Falling Skies,' 'Hawaii Five-0,' 'The Mob Doctor,' 'Grey's Anatomy' & 'Beauty and the Beast'

        Thursday, August 23 - Today's casting updates include new roles and upcoming guest stars on FOX's Ben and Kate and The Mob Doctor; NBC's Go On and Whitney; CBS' The Big Bang Theory and Hawaii Five-0; ABC's Suburgatory and Grey's Anatomy; TNT's Falling Skies; The CW's Beauty and the Beast; and Syfy's Defiance.



Lindsay Sloane (Weeds) will appear on an upcoming episode of FOX's new comedy, Ben and Kate. She will play Louise, one of Ben's (Nat Faxon) ex-girlfriends who tracks him down now that he has returned to town.

Sportscaster Bob Costas will guest star on NBC's new comedy, Go On. He will portray a man who gives a career and life changing opportunity to Ryan (Matthew Perry).

Michael Vartan (Alias, HawthoRNe) has landed a guest spot on NBC's Go On. He will play a professional hockey player and friend of Ryan's (Matthew Perry), who takes him out for some fun on the rink. NHL star Jeremy Roenick will also appear in the episode.

Recurring guest star Kevin Sussman has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming sixth season of CBS' The Big Bang Theory. Sussman plays comic book store owner, Stuart, and has appeared on the comedy since season 2.

Maulik Pancholy will not be returning as a series regular for the upcoming second season of NBC's Whitney. His exit is being cited as creative differences.

Brittany Allen (All My Children) will recur on Syfy's upcoming new drama, Defiance. She will play Tirra, a troubled employee of the town madam, Kenya (Mia Kirshner). When she and Kenya are abducted as a result of Tirra's dangerous inclinations, the two build an unlikely bond as they are launched into a terrifying fight for survival in alien badlands.

Malin Akerman (Children's Hospital) has landed the plum role of Tessa's (Jane Levy) mom on ABC's Suburgatory. Her character, Alex, will pop up in the Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes and is described as a beautiful, free-spirited singer/songwriter, who finally decides to overcome her fears and meet her daughter during the holidays.

Season 2 may have just finished but TNT's Falling Skies is already lining up new characters for its upcoming third season. Robert Sean Leonard (House) and Gloria Reuben (ER) have each signed on for five-episode guest arcs. Leonard will play Roger Kadar, PhD, an obsessive yet gifted scientist who runs Charleston's power grid and lives underground with his pet rats. Reuben, will be reuniting with her former ER co-star Noah Wyle, will play Marina Perlata, Tom's (Wyle) new aide who's intellect and political knowledge could prove to be extremely helpful to Tom.

Arielle Kebbel (90210) and Robbie Amell (Revenge) will appear on an upcoming episode of CBS' Hawaii Five-0. They will play a couple who enter a fortune-teller's lair and have to face "devastating consequences."

Timothy Busfield (thirtysomething) and Jurnee Smollett (Friday Night Lights) have booked guest spots on FOX's new drama, The Mob Doctor. Busfield will play Congressman John Ellis, a popular and charming politician, who is being pressured to change his mind about an upcoming ordinance. Smollett will play Traci Mitchell, a pregnant prostitute, who wants to give up her baby but quickly experiences physiological and emotional complications from the pregnancy.

Relative newcomer Tessa Ferrer is joining ABC's Grey's Anatomy in a recurring role for its upcoming ninth season. Details on her character are being kept under wraps but odds are likely she will play a new intern.

Mädchen Amick (Twin Peaks) will guest on an upcoming episode of The CW's Beauty and the Beast. She will appear in Episode 3 as Lois, a wealthy polo-club president who also owns a therapeutic horse camp.
