After two weeks of pulling respectable numbers on FOX's new Tuesday comedy block, today the network has announced that they are ordering more episodes for
Ben and Kate and
The Mindy Project's first seasons.
FOX has ordered six additional episodes of
Ben and Kate (bringing its first season order to 19) and nine addition episodes of
The Mindy Project (bringing its first season order to 22). The smaller order for
Ben and Kate is being attributed to the increasing demands of the show's creator Dana Fox's current pregnancy.
"Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real - which is why we're confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesday," said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.
