Monday, June 24 - Rescue Me alum James McCaffrey has booked a guest spot on the August 20 episode of USA's Suits. He will play Gordon Specter, Harvey's (Gabriel Macht) dad who offers his advice to help Harvey decide whether to stay at the DA's office or return to work for Jessica (Gina Torres) in the all-flashback hour.
Twin siblings Charlie and Max Carver (Desperate Housewives, Teen Wolf) have been cast as series regulars on the HBO drama pilot The Leftovers from Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta. They will play happy-go-lucky identical twins Scott (Charlie) and Adam (Max) Frost, friends of Kevin Garvey's (Justin Theroux) daughter, whose laid-back demeanor brings levity to a dark world.
Julianne Nicholson (Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) has landed the female lead role on Sundance's new drama series The Red Road (formerly The Descendants) - which has a straight-to-series six-episode order. The drama revolves around Harold Jensen, a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring Ramapo Mountains, home of the Ramapo Mountain Indians. After a terrible tragedy and cover-up occurs involving the sheriff's wife, Jean (Nicholson), an unholy alliance is forged between the sheriff and a dangerous member of the tribe that will come back to haunt all involved. Jean, an over-controlling and over-bearing recovering alcoholic who seems to suffer from dementia stemming from her alcohol use and the loss of her brother, goes on a rampage when she finds her daughter has run off with her new boyfriend.
CBS has ordered a new pilot for the family comedy The McCarthys, which was developed this last season but failed to get a series order for the upcoming fall season. The new pilot will be shot as multi-camera instead of single camera as the original one was. Written by Brian Gallivan and produced by Sony TV and Olive Bridge Entertainment, The McCarthys revolves around a big Irish-Catholic, sports-crazed Boston clan and the gay son whose greatest sin is not his sexuality but his desire to spend less time with his family. The original pilot starred Jack McGee, Jacki Weaver, Jake Lacy, Joey McIntyre, Jessica Chaffin and Jimmy Dunn. It is currently unclear if any of the original cast members will remain for the new pilot.
