According to executive producer & co-creator John Coveny, A&E has renewed Longmire for a third season. "Thanks to the 5 million plus weekly fans (live+7). Young and older skewing alike! The call just came: SEASON 3 for #Longmire is a GO!" he wrote on Twitter.
For its August 26 second season finale, Longmire delivered season highs of 4.4 million total viewers, 1.1 million in Adults 18-49 and 1.5 million in Adults 25-54. The second season averaged 3.7 million viewers, 942,000 in Adults 18-49 and 1.2 million in Adults 25-54 - cementing the series as A&E's most watched drama.
Created by Coveny and Hunt Baldwin and based on the book by Craig Johnson, Longmire follows Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) of Wyoming's Absaroka County, who returns to work following his wife's death. Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamon Phillips, Baily Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley also star on the drama.
The third season will likely debut in summer 2014.
