Comedy Central has renewed its newest comedy series Broad City for a second season. Executive producer Amy Poehler broke the news last night while appearing on the debut episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers and confirmed today by Kent Alterman, President, Content Development and Original Programming, Comedy Central.
The second season of Broad City will consist of 10 episodes and debut in early 2015.
"I didn't realize Broad City was so good until I read all the incredible review," said Alterman. "Now I'm really excited about it."
The series was created by and stars Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, who executive produce with Poehler, Dave Becky, Sam Saifer and Tony Hernandez. Eric Slovin is a co-executive producer.
Broad City is an odd couple comedy about two best friends (Glazer, Jacobson) navigating their twenties in New York City, whose adventures always lead down unexpected and outlandish paths. They're broke, flawed and don't shy away from the sticky situations NYC throws at them, they dive right into the muck. But no matter how bad it gets, these young broads are always down with whatever hits them.
Additional series regulars for the first season are Hannibal Buress, Arturo Castro, Paul Downs, John Gemberling, Chris Gethard and Stephen Schneider. Guest stars include Fred Armisen, Rachel Dratch, Janeane Garofalo, Michelle Hurst, Matt Jones, Pat Kiernan, Jason Mantzoukas, Seth Morris, Amy Poehler and Amy Sedaris.
