After landing the comedy script in a multiple network bidding war a few months ago, FOX has gone ahead and ordered Last Man on Earth from Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) straight-to-series.
FOX cryptically has only revealed that Last Man on Earth will star Forte as the last man on Earth. The pilot was also written by Forte and will be directed by Lord and Miller. All three will executive produce with Seth Cohen. 20th Century Fox Television and Lord Miller will produce.
Production on the new comedy will begin in summer 2014 for the 2014-2015 broadcast season, where the network has slated it to premiere at midseason. An exact episode count has not yet been announced.
