After three consecutive weeks of hitting series highs, HBO has renewed its comedy series Looking starring Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett for a second season.
Production on the comedy - which was created by Michael Lannan and Andrew Haigh - will resume in San Francisco later this year. The new season will debut in early 2015. An exact episode count has not been determined. The 8-episode first season concludes on March 9.
As part of the renewal, HBO has promoted recurring players Lauren Weedman (Dom's best friend Doris), Raul Castillo (Patrick's boyfriend Richie) and Russell Tovey (Patrick's boss Kevin) to series regulars.
Looking opened in January to an OK-but-low 338,000 viewers - but has posted a significant amount of growth in the coming weeks. It's most recent episode (February 23) average a series high 519,000 viewers. Once the network factors in all the platform viewers - including originals, replays, On Demand, HBO Go - the tally rises to two million weekly viewers.
