MTV continues to bulk up on new scripted series with the new scripted regime going 4-for-4 on ordering its pilots to series. Today, the cable network handed out a 10-episode series order to drama Eye Candy starring Victorious alum Victoria Justice.
Eye Candy is described as a cyber thriller based on R.L. Stine's best-selling novel. It centers on Lindy, a tech genius who, convinced by her roommate to begin online dating, starts to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors may be a deadly cyber stalker. When her friends at the elusive cyber police uncover a potential serial killer in Manhattan, all signs point to one of Lindy's dates. Teaming with a band of hackers, Lindy works to solve the murders while unleashing her own style of justice on the streets of New York.
Emmy Grinwis penned the pilot script and will co-executive produce. Jason Blum executive produces the drama via his Blumhouse Productions banner alongside Catherine Hardwicke, who also directed the pilot. Yvonne Bernard and Beth Elise Hawk also serve as executive producers.
Nico Tortorella, Oleysa Rulin, Justin Martin, Harvey Guillen and Lilan Bowden will co-star.
