Today, BET announced renewals for veteran comedy The Game and faux reality show Real Husbands of Hollywood as well as pick ups for comedy The Start Up and miniseries The Book of Negroes.
The Game will return for its eighth season in Spring 2015 while Real Husbands of Hollywood will return for season three in Fall 2014.
In The Start Up, Diggy Simmons stars as Blake Monroe, founder of TheJetsetters.com, an entertainment and lifestyle blog. The comedy focuses on what it means to be young, gifted and digital, as Blake and his friends strategize for fame and financing while they navigate the freedoms and pressures of adulthood. Teyana Taylor, Bria Murphy, Allen Maldonado, Chris Brew and Stephanie Charles also star. Executive producers are Mara Brock Akil, Salim Akil, Kenya Barris, James DuBose, Kevin Liles and Laurie Dobbins.
Based on the Commonwealth Prize-winning novel by Lawrence Hill, The Book of Negroes is a six-part miniseries that centers on Aminata Diallo's capture in Africa, enslavement in America and emancipation in England. Cuba Gooding Jr., Louis Gossett Jr. and Aunjanue Ellis will star. Entertainment One and The CBS will co-produce.
