CBS Gives Series Orders to 'CSI: Cyber,' 'Madam Secretary,' 'The McCarthys,' 'NCIS: New Orleans,' 'The Odd Couple,' 'Scorpion' & 'Stalker'

This afternoon CBS decided to enter the series pickup fray and handed out series orders to five dramas - CSI: Cyber, Madam Secretary, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion and Stalker - and two comedies - The McCarthys and The Odd Couple. They join previously announced straight-to-series drama Battle Creek.

CSI: Cyber aired as a backdoor pilot during a spring episode of veteran CSI's fourteenth season. It centers on Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette), Special Agent in Charge at the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI. She is tasked to solve major crimes that start in the mind, live online and play out into the real world.

CSI veterans Anthony E. Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn and Ann Donahue wrote the backdoor pilot and will executive produce with Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman. Former CSI: NY showrunner Pam Veasey is expected to join the series in the same capacity. Arquette is the only confirmed cast member so far. CBS Television Studios and Bruckheimer Television will produce.

Madam Secretary follows the personal and professional life of a maverick female Secretary of State (Tea Leoni) as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.

The cast also includes Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Evan Roe and Katherine Herzer.

The pilot was written by Barbara Hall and directed by David Semel. Morgan Freeman, Lori McCreary and Tracy Mercer serve as executive producers. CBS Television Studios and Revelations Entertainment will produce.

The McCarthys focuses on an Irish-Catholic, sports-crazed Boston family and the gay son whose greatest sin is not his sexuality but his desire to spend less time with his family.

The comedy stars Tyler Ritter, Laurie Metcalf, Jack McGee, Joey McIntyre, Jimmy Dunn and Kelen Coleman.

The pilot was written by Brian Gallivan, who executive produces with Mike Sikowitz and Will Gluck. Richie Schwartz is co-executive producer. Sony Pictures Television and Olive Bridge Entertainment will produce.

NCIS: New Orleans aired as a two-part backdoor pilot as a part of NCIS's eleventh season. The New Orleans NCIS office handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. With its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery, New Orleans is a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble.

Scott Bakula, CCH Pounder, Zoe McLellan and Lucas Black star on the drama.

Gary Glasberg wrote the pilot and will executive produce with Mark Harmon. CBS Television Studios will produce.

Based on the Broadway play and the 1970s comedy series of the same name, The Odd Couple follows two mismatched roommates - the messy Oscar Madison (Matthew Perry) and the neat freak Felix Unger (Thomas Lennon).

The cast also includes Wendell Pierce, Sarah Baker, Georgia King and Lindsay Sloane.

The pilot was written by Perry and Joe Keenan. Executive producers are Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum. CBS Television Studios, The Tannenbaum Company and Timberman-Beverly Productions will produce.

Inspired by the true story of Walter O'Brien, Scorpion follows an eccentric genius and his international network of super-geniuses as they form the last line of defense against the complex threats of the modern age.

The drama stars Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Ernie Hudson and Robert Patrick.

The pilot was written by Nick Santora and directed by Justin Lin. Executive producers are Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci, Walter O'Brien, Heather Kadin and Scooter Braun. Danny Rose and Danielle Woodrow serve as co-executive producers. Scott Manson and Troy Craig Poon are producers. CBS Television Studios, K/O Paper Products, SB Productions and Perfect Storm Entertainment will produce.

Stalkers centers on a pair of detectives who handle stalking incidents for the Threat Management Unit of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The drama stars Dylan McDermott, Maggie Q, Mariana Klaveno and Victor Rasuk.

The pilot was written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Liz Friedlander. Warner Bros. Television and Outerbanks Entertainment will produce.
