TBS Renews 'Cougar Town' & Cancels 'Men at Work'

The gang will drink wine for another year! This afternoon TBS has renewed Cougar Town for a sixth and final season of 13 episodes. Production on the final episodes will begin later this year for an early 2015 debut.

UPDATE (5/11): Today, TBS has opted to cancel Men at Work after three seasons. It wrapped its run in March.

Cougar Town, starring Courteney Cox, joined the TBS lineup in January 2013 after being canceled by ABC after 3 seasons. Yes, Cougar Town is one of the few shows that made the transition from broadcast to cable network that everyone speculates should happen to all their favorite but canceled shows. It will have aired 3 seasons each on both ABC and TBS.

The cast also includes Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd, Ian Gomez, Josh Hopkins and Brian Van Holt. Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel created the series, with Blake McCormick serving as executive producer/showrunner.

The future of the comedy was up-in-the-air following the conclusion of the fifth season in April. Its ratings dipped. Co-star Gomez even booked a role on CBS multi-cam pilot Cuz-Bros in second position to the TBS comedy. (Now, if that's greenlit, he'll continue on Cougar Town and Cuz-Bros will have to recast his role). Fortunately, TBS still enjoys the comedy and has given it a full year to say goodbye.

And now, the cable network has decided to cancel Men at Work after three seasons. The multi-camera sitcom starred Danny Masterson, James Lesure, Michael Cassidy and Adam Busch. The news comes on the heels of the network ordering three new comedies to premiere throughout the upcoming year.
