Today, NBC has renewed its summer medical drama The Night Shift for a second season. Created by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, the series will likely return for another summer run in 2015.
From Sony Pictures Television, The Night Shift focuses on the men and women who work the overnight shift in the ER at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. The drama stars Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Daniella Alonso, Robert Bailey Jr., Jeananne Goossen, J.R. Lemon and Freddy Rodriguez.
The Night Shift got a solid debut audience following the premiere of America's Got Talent on May 27 averaging 7.8 million viewers and a 1.58 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic. It's most recent episode averaged 6 million viewers and a 1.19 rating. The 8-episode first season wraps on July 15.
