Casting News - Yvette Nicole Brown Joins 'The Odd Couple'; Syfy Sets Fall Debut Dates for 3 Dramas; Plus 5 More Updates!

ABC's American Crime; CBS' The Odd Couple; FOX's Backstrom & The Following; HBO's The Brink; and Syfy's AscensionHavenHelix & Z Nation.





SYFY's ASCENSION, HAVEN and Z NATION
  • Syfy has announced premiere for its upcoming fall series: Haven will return for the start of its super-sized fifth season on Thursday, September 11 at 9/8c.; new zombie drama Z Nation will debut on Friday, September 12 at 10/9c.; and lastly six-part event series Ascension will premiere on Monday, November 24 at 9/8c.
ABC's AMERICAN CRIME
  • David Hoflin and Julian Works have landed recurring roles on the midseason drama. Hoflin will play Mark Skokie, son of Barb and Russ Skokie (Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton) who arrives in Modesto in support of his estranged parents in their time of crisis. Works will play Edgar, a young man who becomes a friend and protector of Tony (Johnny Ortiz) in juvie.
SYFY's HELIX
  • Matt Long (Mad Men, Private Practice) has joined the cast of the drama's upcoming second season. He will play Dr. Kyle Sommer, a world-class toxicologist and the newest member of the CDC team.
FOX's BACKSTROM
  • Lolita Davidovich will appear on an upcoming episode of the midseason drama starring Rainn Wilson. She will play Louis "Lou" Finster, Gregory's (Thomas Dekker) mother, a former hooker who decided to become a dental hygienist after finding god.
CBS' THE ODD COUPLE
  • Community star Yvette Nicole Brown has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming multi-cam comedy. She will play Dani, Oscar's (Matthew Perry) assistant. The role was originally designed as a regular - and played by Sarah Baker in the original pilot - but tweaking has reshaped the character a bit. It's currently unclear how this new gig will effect Brown's presence on the upcoming sixth season of Community on Yahoo Screen.
HBO's THE BRINK
  • John Larroquette (Night Court) and Cass Bugge (Going the Distance) have booked multi-episode arcs on the upcoming dark comedy. Larroquette will play Robert Kittredge, the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, an imposing career diplomat rocked by world events. Bugge will play Samantha Gregory, an assistant in the Embassy.
FOX's THE FOLLOWING
  • Zuleikha Robinson (Lost, Homeland) has joined the third season of the hit drama as a new series regular. She will play Gwen, the latest love interest for Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), an ER doctor and the mother of a seven year old girl.
