Late Monday night, USA has officially handed out a second season renewal to comedy Playing House created by and starring Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham.
Playing House follows two best friends, Emma (St. Clair) and Maggie (Parham), who reunite in their hometown to help raise Maggie's unborn baby.
The comedy also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Zach Woods and Brad Morris.
St. Clair and Parham also serve as executive producers with Scot Armstrong, Judah Miller and Ravi Nandan. Universal Cable Productions, A24 Films, Parham St. Clair Productions and Open 4 Business Productions produce.
The second season will include 8 episodes (down 2 from the first season) and will debut in 2015.
The renewal comes six months after the comedy's June finale. Furthermore, it's a show of support that the cable network isn't completely out of the comedy business just yet. In the summer, the network announced its plan to refocus on developing a strong drama slate. Five pilots are currently in contention for a series pickup at the network and all of them are hourlong dramas.
