CBS' TAXI-22
- Emmy winner John Leguizamo has been tapped to play the lead role on the comedy pilot from writer Tad Quill. He will play a misanthropic and politically incorrect taxi cab driver in New York City. He will also co-executive produce with his managers, Jeff Goldenberg and Sam Maydew.
CBS' LIFE IN PIECES
- CBS has ordered to pilot single camera comedy Life in Pieces written by Justin Adler. Executive producers are Adler and Aaron Kaplan. 20th Century Fox Television and Kapital Entertainment will produce. The project focuses on one family and told through the separate stories of its different family members.
TRUTV's SHAQ INQ.
- TruTV continues its push into developing original scripted content with a pilot order for comedy Shaq Inq. starring former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal. The pilot was written by Jeremy Garelick and will be directed by John Fortenberry. Executive producers are O'Neal, Garelick, Fortenberry and Mike Tollin. Dan Kaplow and Jon Weinbach are co-executive producers, with Perry Rogers, Colin Smeeton and Michael Parris as producers. Mandalay Sports Media will produce. The project follows the offbeat, yet capable group who juggle the mayhem of managing Shaq's existing products and endorsements while implementing his latest batch of eccentric and oftentimes brilliant business ideas. While they're all working towards the same goal, each employee is constantly jockeying for the power and recognition to make the big guy proud.
FOX's ROSEWOOD
- Emmy winning director Richard Shepard (Ugly Betty, Criminal Minds, Salem) has signed on to direct the drama pilot from writer Todd Harthan.
FOX's UNTITLED JOHN STAMOS PROJECT
- FOX has given a pilot order to an untitled single camera comedy starring John Stamos and written by Danny Chun (The Office) and Dan Fogelman (Galavant). All three will also executive produce, with ABC Studios, St. Amos Productions and Rhode Island Ave Productions producing. The project centers on a charismatic longtime bachelor (Stamos) whose life is upended when he discovers he's a father - and a grandfather.
FOX's STUDIO CITY
- FOX has also ordered to pilot drama Studio City written by Krista Vernoff and produced by John Wells. Andrew Stearn also serves as executive producer. Warner Bros. Television and John Wells Productions will produce. Described as The O.C. meets Shameless, the project tells the story of a young singer's path to stardom, as she comes of age living with her songwriter father - who turns out to be a drug dealer to the stars.
USA's THE QUEEN OF THE SOUTH
- Joaquim de Almeida (Missing) has been cast in a recurring role on the drama pilot starring Alice Braga. He will play Don Epifanio Vargas, a handsome, privileged and successful Mexican politician who was a father figure to Teresa's (Braga) boyfriend, who welcomed her into his family like a daughter. But he also is very dangerous, with a cool demeanor that masks a volatile, violent man who cannot be trusted.
