FOX Orders Comedies 'The Grinder,' 'Grandfathered' & 'The Guide to Surviving Life' and Drama 'Rosewood'

FOX has just made its first series pickups for the upcoming 2015-16 season - with orders for comedies The Grinder, Grandfathered and The Guide to Surviving Life and medical drama Rosewood starring Morris Chestnut.

THE GRINDER - Rob Lowe stars as beloved TV lawyer Dean Sanderson (aka "The Grinder"). When his long-running hit series comes to an end, he finds himself at a crossroads in life and decides to move back to his small home town thinking he has the experience to take over his family's law firm - but ends up butting heads with his brother, Stewart (Fred Savage).

The cast also includes Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Natalie Morales and William Devane.

Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul wrote the pilot, and executive produce with Lowe, Nick Stoller and director Jake Kasdan. 20th Century Fox Television produces.

ROSEWOOD - As owner of one of the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art independent labs in the country, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Morris Chestnut) - the top private pathologist in Miami - finds the secrets in bodies that others usually miss. Despite being constantly surrounded by death, Rosewood is obsessed with life and savors every moment. His eternal optimism will frustrate the cynical female detective (Jaina Lee Ortiz) he often works with, but she can't argue with the results that his unique perspective provides.

Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Anna Konkle and Gabrielle Dennis co-star on the procedural.

Todd Harthan wrote the pilot, which Richard Shepard directed. Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen serve as executive producers. 20th Century Fox Television and Temple Hill Entertainment.

GRANDFATHERED - John Stamos (Full House, ER) stars as a charismatic longtime bachelor whose life is upended when he discovers he's a father - and a grandfather.

The comedy also stars Josh Peck, Paget Brewster, Christina Milian, Kelly Jenrette and Ravi Patel.

Danny Chun wrote the pilot, and executive produces with Stamos and Dan Fogelman. ABC Studios, St. Amos Productions and Rhode Island Ave Productions produce.

THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE - After a particularly calamitous experience, 26-year-old Cooper Barrett (Jack Cutmore-Scott) turns to a camera and, using cautionary tales from his own life, episode by episode, helps the youth of America survive the ridiculous disaster that is life and love in your 20s.

The cast also includes Meaghan Rath, James Earl, Charlie Saxton, Justin Bartha and Maureen Sebastian.

Jay Lacopo wrote the pilot, and executive produces with Gail Berman. Bill Callahan has been brought in as showrunner and will also executive produce. 20th Century Fox Television and The Jackal Group produce.
