NBC Cancels 'About a Boy, 'Constantine,' 'Marry Me,' 'One Big Happy' and 'State of Affairs'

NBC is now making its final decisions on the fates of its shows still currently on the bubble. First up are first season shows Constantine, Marry Me and State of Affairs - neither of which will be back for second seasons at the network.

UPDATE - The network has also just announced cancellations for sophomore comedy About a Boy and only recent newcomer One Big Happy.

It's very rare for first year shows not to get picked up for back nine episode orders (or only partial ones) and then be renewed for second seasons by the time Upfronts come around. And yet, hope was still alive for all three projects because they certainly weren't the worst things NBC aired this season in the ratings. However, all three shows were still considered long shots for renewal.

In the months since its first season ended, the Constantine producers have made sure to keep hope alive in the show's hardcore fan base. Tweeting out news that a second season was still possible and pitches were being heard. It's currently unclear if Warner Bros. Television will try shopping the show to other networks.

Marry Me was taken off NBC's schedule back in February in order to make way for the network's new Tuesday comedy block of Undateable and One Big Happy. Technically, the comedy still has four unaired episodes. Now, it's unclear if those episodes will ever see the light of day stateside.

Much like Marry Me, About a Boy was taken off the schedule in February and still has four episodes left unaired of its second season.
