Netflix has renewed single camera comedy Grace and Frankie starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin for a second season, it was announced Tuesday evening. The new season will begin production later this year for a debut likely in 2016.
Grace and Frankie stars Fonda and Tomlin as two frenemies whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands announce that they are leaving them in order to marry each other.
The cast also includes Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Brooklyn Decker, June Diane Raphael, Ethan Embry and Baron Vaughn.
The comedy was created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, who executive produce with Fonda, Tomlin, Paula Weinstein, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison and Marcy Ross. Skydance Productions and Okay Goodnight produce.
The renewal announcement comes as every Netflix original production so far has gone on to produce a second season.
