Development News - FX Comedy Pilot 'Atlanta' Casts Three Leads; ABC Family Drama Pilot 'Beyond' Recasts Two Roles

FX's ATLANTA
  • Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz will star opposite Donald Glover on the the comedy pilot, with Hiro Murai coming on board to direct. Henry will play Alfred Miles, Atlanta's hot of the moment rapper who plans to capitalize on the sudden fame as quickly as possible. Stanfield will play Darius, Alfred's oddly talented right-hand man and musical collaborator. Beetz will play Van, a pragmatist caught up in a complicated relationship with Earn (Glover) due to their daughter.
ABC FAMILY's BEYOND
  • The drama pilot is shifting some of its regular roles around ahead of production. Burkely Duffield, who was initially cast in the supporting role of Luke, will be taking over the lead role of Holden, a young man who wakes from a coma with supernatural abilities. The role was originally going to be played by Callan McAuliffe, who will be leaving the project completely. Additionally, Jonathan Whitesell has been tapped to succeed Duffield as Luke, Holden's younger brother.
