AMAZON's CASANOVA and SNEAKY PETE
- The online streaming service has announced a Friday, August 7 debut date for two of its drama pilots - Casanova and Sneaky Pete - for viewers to watch and vote on to determine if they'll get series orders. Casanova is a period drama that stars Diego Luna, Bojana Novakovic, Miranda Richardson, Ben Daniels and Amelia Clarkson. Sneaky Pete is a failed pilot from the last development cycle at CBS getting new life at Amazon. The pilot stars Giovanni Ribisi, Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Peter Gerety, Libe Barer and Shane McRae.
FOX's SON OF ZORN
- Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live), Cheryl Hines (Suburgatory), Tim Meadows (Marry Me) and Artemis Pebdani (Scandal) have joined the cast of the comedy pilot presentation. Sudeikis will voice Zorn, an animated fantasy warrior who is trying to reconnect with his estranged, live-action son (Johnny Pemberton). Hines will play Edie, Zorn's ex-wife and Alan's mother. Meadows will play Craig, Edie's live-in boyfriend. Pebdani will play Linda, Zorn's superior at his new job.
TNT's ANIMAL KINGDOM
- Ellen Barkin (Before Women Had Wings) and Scott Speedman (Felicity) have been cast on the drama pilot based on the film of the same name. Barkin will play Janine "Smurf" Cody, a working-class mom with what appears to be a picket-fence lifestyle. She's actually the boot-tough matriarch of an organized crime family and has enough authority to make even the most dangerous men tremble in her presence. Speedman will play Barry "Baz" Brown, who was adopted by the Cody family when he was 12 and now leads the group in their armed robberies, but also thinks of breaking away from a life of crime.
