Netflix and City in Canada have renewed the original drama series Between for a six-episode second season, it was announced today by series star Jennette McCurdy via Twitter. The new season will debut in 2016.
The first season of Between was the first series where Netflix released the episodes one week at a time - as opposed to its regular binge-viewing model. The drama premiered on May 21 and also ran weekly on City, the Canadian network that developed the series. Netflix gets the show in all territories outside of Canada, while Netflix Canada will stream Between with a year's delay.
The thriller centers on the small town of Pretty Lake which is coping with a mysterious disease that kills everyone over the age of 21.
The drama stars McCurdy, Jesse Carere, Jack Murray, Brooke Palsson, Justin Kelly, Ryan Allen and Kyle Mac.
Between was created by Michael McGowan, who executive produces with Don Carmody, David Cormican and Naveen Prasad. Elevation Pictures, Don Carmody Television and Mulmur Feed Company produce.
