WGN America has renewed its original drama series Salem for a third season, it was announced this evening during the show's panel at Comic-Con. Production on the 13-episode third season will begin later this year for a 2016 debut.
The supernatural drama ended its second season on June 28, with a massive cliffhanger involving its leading lady played by Janet Montgomery. The finale was seen by 340,000 total viewers and a 0.14 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The series is a strong delayed viewing performer though - with the second season averaging 1.1 million total viewers overall.
The cast for the second season included Janet Montgomery, Shane West, Seth Gabel, Tamzin Merchant, Ashley Madekwe, Elise Eberle, Iddo Goldberg, Joe Doyle, Oliver Bell and Lucy Lawless.
The drama was created by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon. Fox 21 Television Studios produces.
