This morning Netflix has picked up its first Brazilian original series 3% which will play João Miguel (Estômago) and Bianco Comparato (Avenida Brasil). Oscar-nominee Cesar Charlone (City of God) will direct the first season, which will start filming in early 2016 for a debut later in the year.
Written by Pedro Aguilera, 3% is a dramatic thriller that brings viewers into a world divided into progress and devastation. The once-in-a-lifetime chance to pass to the "better side" is through a cruel - and not always fair - process where only 3% of the candidates succeed.
"Ultimately, the series questions the dynamics of society that imposes constant selection processes we all have to go through, whether we like it or not," said Charlone.
Tiago Mello will also serve as an executive producer, with Boutique Filmes producing the first season.
