During his executive session at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Showtime President David Nevins announced fourth season renewals for original drama series Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. Both will likely return to the network in 2016.
Created by Ann Biderman, Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber - who just earned his first Emmy nomination for the drama - as a Los Angeles fixer with a very complicated personal life.
The cast for the third season also includes Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer, Katherine Moenning, Kerris Dorsey, Devon Bagby and Jon Voight, with guest stars Ian McShane and Katie Holmes.
The third season also saw David Hollander taking over as showrunner. Additional executive producers include Mark Gordon and Bryan Zuriff.
Developed by Michelle Ashford, Masters of Sex chronicles the lives of Dr. William Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) who's sexual research study and subsequent book change the landscape of the country in the 1960s.
The cast for the third season also includes Caitlin Fitzgerald and Annaleigh Ashford, with guest stars Josh Charles, Beau Bridges and Allison Janney. Bridges and Janney both received Emmy nominations for their roles on the show this year.
Executive producers are Ashford, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Amy Lippman and Judith Vern.
"Both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex are signature series for Showtime," said Nevins. "They are emblematic of what Showtime stands for - quality, premium programming that you cannot find anywhere else on television. We're so proud to continue offering both series across all our platforms."
