Amazon Gives Series Order to Drama 'Sneaky Pete' Starring Giovanni Ribisi and Margo Martindale

Amazon has handed out a series order to original drama series Sneaky Pete, it was announced this afternoon. The drama will debut a full season on the streaming service in 2016. The pilot was one of two dramas Amazon posted last month - the other, Casanova, is still in contention for a series order.

From Sony Pictures Television, Sneaky Pete stars Giovanni Ribisi as a conman who, after leaving prison, takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his cellmate, Pete, and living with his estranged family.

The cast also features Margo Martindale, Marin Ireland, Peter Gerety, Libe Barer and Shane McRae.

The drama was created by David Shore and Bryan Cranston, the latter popped up as a guest star in the pilot. Additional executive producers include James Degus and director Seth Gordon. Erin Gunn is a co-executive producer. Amazon Studios, Moon Shot Entertainment and Shore Z Productions also produce.

The pilot was originally set up and in contention at CBS this past development season. The broadcast network passed on the project, but Sony successfully transitioned the series to Amazon. A gambit that has worked out well with the series order news today.
