FOX's THE GRINDER
- Seinfeld alum Jason Alexander will appear on the upcoming comedy series starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage. He will play Cliff Beamis, the egomaniac and ersatz tough-guy creator of the titular show-within-the-show in which Dean (Lowe) starred for eight seasons.
SUNDANCETV's THE RETURNED
- The second season of the hit French series will make its stateside debut on Saturday, October 31 at 10/9c. The new season will pick up six months after Season 1 - which aired in the Fall of 2013 - left off.
AMC's THE WALKING DEAD
- Xander Berkeley (24, Salem) has booked a recurring role on the drama's upcoming sixth season - with an option to become a series regular in Season 7. No details were immediately made available about the character he will be playing. However, he won't debut until the second half of the season.
NETFLIX's WITH BOB AND DAVID
- The sketch comedy series reuniting Bob Odenkirk and David Cross will make its series debut on Friday, November 13. The premiere date was announced in this video teaser. The first season will include four half-hour episodes and a one-hour "Making Of..." special.
A&E, HISTORY & LIFETIME's ROOTS
- Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Derek Luke, Chad L. Coleman and Erica Tazel have been cast on the upcoming remake of the hit miniseries. Whitaker will play Fiddler, a slave who tries to mentor Kunta Kinte (Malachi Kirby) and risks his life to help him escape. Paquin will play Nancy Holt, the wife of a Confederate officer who has her own agenda when it comes to the handling of slaves. Meyers will play Tom Lea, an uneducated slave owner desperate to claw his way into the elite company of Southern gentility. Rose will play Kizzy, the cherished, smart daughter of Kunta Kinte who maintains her family pride and warrior spirit. Luke will play Silla Ba Dibba, the military trainer of Juffure, charged with transforming teen boys into powerful Mandinka Warriors. Coleman will play Mingo, a stern no-nonsense slave who keeps the Lea plantation afloat. Tazel will play Matilda, a preacher's daughter and love interest to Chicken George.
NBC's LAW & ORDER: SVU
- Virginia Madsen (Sideways) has been tapped to play Amanda's (Kelli Giddish) mother, Beth Anne Rollins, on an upcoming episode of the drama's seventeenth season. Beth Anne is described as a "mother who thinks her troublesome daughter, Kim (Lindsay Pulsipher) can't make mistakes and her successful daughter, Amanda, has turned her back on her family."
