Development News - HBO Orders Pete Holmes Pilot 'Crashing'; Andrew Buchan to Star in 'Home'; Plus 1 More Update!

HBO's CRASHING
  • The premium cable network has given a pilot order to single camera comedy Crashing written by and starring Pete Holmes. Judd Apatow has also signed on to direct and executive produce. Dave Rath will also executive produce the pilot. The semi-autobiographical project centers on a sweet, wholesome comedian (Holmes) who, after his wife leaves him, has nowhere to stay but on the couches of New York's finest comics.
TNT's HOME
  • Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch), JoBeth Williams (Poltergeist), Harris Dickinson (Some Girls) and Sawyer Barth (Black Box) have been cast on the drama pilot written by Aron Eli Coleite. Buchan will play Joe Altman, an affectionate father, son and husband to his second wife, Rose, and a successful prison psychologist striving to rehabilitate the most sociopathic inmates. Williams will play Helen, Joe's mother, a children's author/artist who retired abruptly 40 years ago to focus on family. Dickinson will play PK, Joe's 17-year-old son, a good athlete and kind soul who is ready to find his own identity. Barth will play Nate, Joe's 14-year-old son with oppositional defiance disorder who is always in trouble with Joe but might have an ally in new stepmom, Rose.
USA's POOR RICHARD's ALMANACK
  • Helix alum Jordan Hayes is the first actor cast on the drama pilot written by Jim Danger Gray and Miguel Sapochnik. Additionally, Neil Marshall has signed on to direct and executive produce the pilot. Hayes will play Madison Fischer, a paranoid schizophrenic who sees patterns where others don't. When she stumbles upon a plan for a series of terrorist attacks, she has to convince her CIA agent brother to look past her affliction and trust her.
