Three weeks after debuting the new series, Hulu has given a second season renewal to dramedy Casual created by Zander Lehmann. The second season will include 13 episodes, up from the 10 episodes for the first season.
Directed by Jason Reitman, Casual centers on Valerie (Michaela Watkins), a newly divorced single mother living with her brother Alex (Tommy Dewey) and her daughter Laura (Tara Lynne Barr).
The casts also features Frances Conroy, Nyasha Hatendi, Julie Berman and Fred Melamed.
Lehmann and Reitman executive produce the series with Helen Estabrook and showrunner Liz Tigelaar. Lionsgate Television produces.
"Casual really struck a chord," said Craig Erwich, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Hulu. "We couldn't be prouder of the quality, and we're thrilled to see it be recognized for the success that it is."
"The Casual family came together quickly and bonded in a very real way both on screen and off," added Reitman. "We're all thrilled to see more of each other and continue building upon the adventures of Alex and Valerie as they attempt real adult relationships."
