Starz Renews 'Ash vs. Evil Dead' for Season 2 - Ahead of Series Debut

Days ahead of its October 31 series debut, Starz has renewed its new original series Ash vs. Evil Dead for a second season. The new series stars Bruce Campbell and reunites him with the original Evil Dead filmmakers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

Campbell reprises his role from the Evil Dead film franchise as Ash, the aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons - personal and literal.

Showrunner Craig DiGregorio is slated to return for the second season alongside executive producers Raimi, Tapert and Campbell. It's unclear how many episodes will be produced for the second season - though it should be similar to the first season's 10 episode order. As of right now, Campbell and co-star Lucy Lawless are the only cast members confirmed to return. The series also stars Jill Marie Jones, Ray Santiago and Dana Delorenzo.

"One season isn't enough to satisfy the fans' two decade-long appetite for more Ash, said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director, Starz. "The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can't end with season one."
