CBS has ordered an additional five episodes for the first season of medical drama Code Black starring Marcia Gay Harden - bringing the season's total to 18 episodes.
The drama stars Marcia Gay Harden, Raza Jaffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Luis Guzmán, Willian Allen Young and Kevin Dunn.
Michael Seitzman created the series and serves as an executive producer with Ryan McGarry, Marti Noxon, Linda Goldstein-Knowlton and David Semel. CBS Television Studios and ABC Studios produce.
Code Black has been incredible stable (if a tad low) in its Wednesdays at 10/9c. time slot. In overnight ratings, it has posted a 1.2 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic for six of its first eight episodes. That number grows to a 1.8 when seven days of DVR returns are factored in.
Code Black joins Limitless and Life in Pieces in receiving additional episode orders from CBS. Supergirl is the only freshman series on the network still awaiting word on its future - though it seems very likely it will get a pick up for more episodes.
