This morning CBS has given an order for seven additional episodes to the first season of hit drama Supergirl - bringing the season total to 20 episodes.
The drama stars Melissa Benois as Kara Zor-El, who was born on Krypton but has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin since arriving on Earth. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always destined to be.
The series also stars Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan and David Harewood.
Supergirl was developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg. All three executive produce with Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Production produce.
The drama launched well a month ago to a 3.1 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 12.9 million total viewers. It was the most-watched premiere of the fall season for new shows. It also tied with NBC's Blindspot for the highest-rated debut of the fall for the new series. When factoring DVR playback, Supergirl is currently averaging a 2.8 rating.
Supergirl is the last new fall show on the broadcast networks to have its future determined. It joins fellow CBS rookies Limitless, Life in Pieces and Code Black in getting an additional episode order.
