Amazon Gives Series Orders to 'Highston,' 'One Mississippi,' 'Z: The Beginning of Everything,' 'Good Girls Revolt' and 'Patriot'

Amazon has picked up five pilots from its most recent pilot season to series: two dramas - Good Girls Revolt and Patriot - and three comedies - One Mississippi, Highston and Z: The Beginning of Everything. All of these series orders are likely for 10 episode seasons.

HIGHSTON: Highston Liggetts is a 19-year old with a wide circle of celebrity friends - that only he can see. His parents, Jean and Wilbur, force him to get psychiatric help, but his Uncle Billy thinks he's just fine. It's a comedy about what it means to be normal in a world that's anything but.

The comedy stars Lewis Pullman, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Chris Parnell and Curtis Armstrong.

Bob Nelson wrote the pilot, which was directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. All three executive produce with Sacha Baron Cohen, Todd Schulman and Todd Hoffman. Amazon Studios, Four By Two Films and Bungalow Media+Entertainment produce.

ONE MISSISSIPPI: Loosely inspired by Tig Notario's life, the comedy follows Tig as she deals with the complex reentry into her childhood hometown of Bay Saint Lucille, Mississippi, to deal with the unexpected death of her mother, the interminable life of the party. Reeling from her own recently declining health, Tig struggles to find her footing with the loss of the one person who actually understood her, with help from her older but not always wiser brother, Remy, and her emotionally distant stepfather, Bill. A surprise visit from Tig's girlfriend, Brooke, only compounds the reality of how out of place Tig is in a world without her mother.

The comedy stars Tig Notaro, Noah Harpster, John Rothman and Casey Wilson.

Notaro and Diablo Cody wrote the pilot, which was directed by Nicole Holofcener. All three executive produce with Louis C.K., Blair Breard and Dave Becky. Amazon Studios, FX Productions, Pig Newton and 3 Arts Entertainment produce.

Z: THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING: It's a bio-series pilot based on the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, the brilliant, beautiful and talented Southern Belle who becomes the original flapper and icon of the wild, flamboyant Jazz Age in the 1920s. The series stars before she meets the unpublished writer F. Scott Fitzgerald and moves through their passionate, turbulent love affair and their marriage - made in heaven, lived out in hell as the celebrity couple of their time.

The series stars Christina Ricci, Gavin Stenhouse, David Strathairn, Holly Curran, Kristine Nielsen, Maya Kazan, Sarah Schenkkan and Jamie Anne Allman.

Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin wrote the pilot, which they also executive produce with Ricci, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler. Tim Blake Nelson directed the pilot. Amazon Studios produces.

GOOD GIRLS REVOLT: In 1969, while a cultural revolution with a soundtrack to match swept through the free world, there was still one place that refused to change with the times: newsrooms. The drama follows a group of young female researchers at "News of the Week," who simply ask to be treated fairly. Their revolutionary request will spark convulsive changes and upend marriages, careers, sex lives, love lives and friendships.

The drama stars Anna Camp, Genevieve Angelson, Joy Bryant, Chris Diamantopoulos, Erin Darke, Hunter Parrish, Grace Gummer and Jim Belushi.

The pilot was written by Dana Calvo, who executive produces with Lynda Obst, Jeff Okin, Darlene Hunt and Don Kurt. Liza Johnson directed the pilot. Amazon Studios and TriStar Television produce.

PATRIOT: A political thriller that follows the complicated life of intelligence officer John Tavner. His latest assignment is to prevent Iran from going nuclear, requiring him to forgo all safety nets and assume a perilous "non-official cover" - that of a mid-level employee at a Midwestern industrial piping firm. A bout with PTSD, the Federal government's incompetence, and the intricacies of keeping a day job in the "front" company, cause a barrage of ever-escalating fiascos that jeopardize Tavner's mission.

The drama stars Michael Dorman, Terry O'Quinn, Kathleen Munroe, Michael Chernus, Aliette Opheim and Kurtwood Smith.

The pilot was written and directed by Steve Conrad. He executive produces with Gil Bellows, Glenn Ficarra, Charlie Gogolak and John Requa.
