ABC's Chunk and Bean & Square Roots; FOX's 24: Legacy, A.P.B. & Recon; and Hulu's Citizen & When the Street Lights Go On.
HULU's CITIZEN
- The online streaming service has ordered a pilot for Citizen, a supernatural drama from director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. The pilot is written by Gomez-Rejon, Josh Pate and Nicholas Schutt, with Gomez-Rejon also directing. David Kanter, Matt DeRoss and Steve Golin also executive produce. Paramount Television and Anonymous Content will produce. The project is described as a fresh take on the hero origin story blending elements of magical realism and gritty vigilantism set against the backdrop of a vibrant, "supernaturalized" Los Angeles.
HULU's WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS GO ON
- Hulu has also given a pilot order to drama When the Street Lights Go On written by Chris Hutton and Eddie O'Keefe. Brett Morgen is set to direct. Chad Hamilton, Tariq Merhab, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin will executive produce. Paramount Television and Anonymous Content will produce. The project is a coming-of-age thriller about a sleepy, suburban town that is rocked by the brutal murder of a high school girl and her teacher in the summer of 1983.
FOX's 24: LEGACY
- Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins has been tapped to play the lead role on the drama pilot - which is a sequel series to 24 starring Kiefer Sutherland. He will play Eric Carter, a strong and smart guy who came from a rough background and turned his life around in the Army Rangers. Now back home in Virginia with his wife, Nicole, he's pulled back into the action as his past comes looking for him.
FOX's RECON
- Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec are reuniting as executive producers for drama Recon - which has just been ordered to pilot at FOX. The pilot was written by Caroline Dries. Warner Bros. Television and Outerbanks Entertainment will produce. The project centers on a rookie FBI agent who embeds herself in a suspected terrorist family.
FOX's A.P.B.
- The network has also ordered a pilot for drama A.P.B. written by David Slack and executive produced by Len Wiseman. 20th Century Fox Television will produce. The project focuses on a tech billionaire who purchases a troubled police precinct in the wake of a loved one's murder. He uses a cutting-edge approach to fix the broken ways of these blue blooded veterans. The drama is based on the New York Times story "Who Runs the Streets of New Orleans?"
ABC's SQUARE ROOTS
- The network is continuing its push for more family centered comedies - with a pilot order for single camera entry Square Roots written by Vijal Patel. ABC Studios will produce. The project centers on a man from a family of logic-driven engineers who is determined to use his "gift" to help the people he loves with their everyday issues... whether they like it or not.
ABC's CHUNK & BEAN
- ABC has also ordered a pilot for single camera comedy Chunk & Bean written by Ed Herro and Brian Donovan. They executive produce with Dave Hemingson. ABC Studios will produce. The comedy centers on the unlikely friendship of two misfits, Chunk and Bean, who benefit from having two very different sets of parents living next door to each other.
