FOX Officially Revives 'Prison Break' as New Event Series

FOX has officially ordered an event series revival of its hit drama series Prison Break, it was announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group.

An immediate critical and ratings hit when the original series premiered in the fall of 2005, the new event series will hit the ground running, reuniting series stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.

The original producing team, including series creator Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead will return to executive produce the new series, with Scheuring serving as showrunner and writer.

The original series centered on a young man (Miller) determined to prove his convicted brother's (Purcell) innocence and save him from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape from prison.

The event series is eyeing an April 2016 start date for production - after Miller and Purcell have wrapped filming for The CW's Legends of Tomorrow. The event series will likely include 8-10 episodes. Miller and Purcell are the only original series stars confirmed to return for the revival, though other favorites are likely to return as well.
