Development News - Nico Evers-Swindell Books Lead on Charlie Grandy Pilot; Jeremy Sisto Joins 'The Jury'; Plus 8 More Updates!

ABC's The Jury, Notorious & Presence; Amazon's The Interestings; CBS' Superior Donuts; The CW's Riverdale; FOX's Charity Case; HBO's Barry; Hulu's Crushed; and NBC's Untitled Charlie Grandy & Untitled Tracey Wigfield.



NBC's UNTITLED CHARLIE GRANDY PROJECT
  • Nico Evers-Swindell (Grimm) has been cast as the lead in the untitled comedy pilot written by Charlie Grandy. Tim Baltz (Drunk History) and Jessie Ennis (Veep) have also joined the cast today. Evers-Swindell will play Prince Karl, known unaffectionately as The Dumb Prince, who returns home from a year's exile in America after having passed out at the coronation of his seemingly hapless father. Baltz will play Prince Marco, the second son of Modaria's ruling family. Ennis will play Princess Jana, the youngest child of the royal family.
ABC's NOTORIOUS
  • Michael Engler (Downton Abbey, Sex and the City) has been tapped to direct the drama pilot written by Josh Berman and Allie Hagan.
ABC's THE JURY
  • Jeremy Sisto (Wicked City, Suburgatory) has landed a regular role on the drama pilot starring Archie Panjabi. He will play Dan, a juror who is professional, well dressed and handsome. But more importantly, he is widely liked within the group of jurors.
ABC's PRESENCE
  • Rick Gonzalez (Mr. Robot) and Marcus Anderson (Bosch) will co-star on the drama pilot written by John Ridley. Gonzalez will play Manny Acevedo, Presence's (Stephanie Sigman) best friend, a small business owner who runs a very funky consignment space, lounge and emporium. Anderson will play Tre Davis, Presence's openly gay half-brother who works as an event planner for high-end clubs.
THE CW's RIVERDALE
  • Lili Reinhart (Surviving Jack) and Cole Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) have been cast on the drama pilot based on the Archie Comics' characters. Reinhart will play Betty Cooper, a sweet, studious, eager-to-please and wholesome with a huge crush on her longtime best friend, Archie. Tired of being the perfect daughter, student and sister, she turns to her new friend, Veronica, for life advice - must to the consternation of her emotionally brittle mother. Sprouse will play Jughead Jones, a heartthrob with a philosophical bent and former best friend of Archie. He is still smarting from the rift that took place between the two.
CBS' SUPERIOR DONUTS
  • Stand-up comedian Jermaine Fowler has closed a deal to star in and co-executive produce the multi-camera comedy pilot. Additionally, James Burrows has signed on to direct - marking the second pilot he will helm at CBS this pilot season. Fowler will play Franco, a high-energy, fast-talking force of nature who sees Superior Donuts as a symbol of everything he loves about the neighborhood - it's authentic and real. As Arthur's new (and only) employee, he's going to make it his mission to drag the shop into the 21st century.
HULU's CRUSHED
  • Colm Feore (The Borgias), Alex Kingston (Doctor Who) and Jacob Vargas (Sons of Anarchy) have joined the cast of the comedy pilot starring Regina Hall. Feore will play Roberto Stella, an eccentric, savvy wine-maker whose successful label underpays for Will's perfect grapes to make his special reserve wine. After Celia (Hall) disrespects him, he cuts business ties and sets out to thwart the siblings' plans for their vineyard. Kingston will play Cricket Stella, Roberto's bored Napa Valley wife, who amuses herself by having an affair with Will, only to parlay it into a power play. Vargas will play Jose Alturo, a vineyard manager of the venerable Stella Winery who's tired of working for the "man," so he moonlights with the fledgling Black Estate to make a better life for his family.
HBO's BARRY
  • Glenn Fleshler (True Detective, Boardwalk Empire) has landed a regular role on the comedy pilot starring Bill Hader. He will play Goran, a Russian gangster.
AMAZON's THE INTERESTINGS
  • Matt Barr (Sleepy Hollow) will co-star on the drama pilot written by Lyn Greene and Richard Levine. He will play Goodman Wolf, the brother of Ash Wolf.
NBC's UNTITLED TRACEY WIGFIELD PROJECT
  • Adam Campbell (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Mixology) has been cast on the untitled comedy pilot written by Tracey Wigfield. He will play Greg, the recently-named executive producer of the news program. Harvard-educated and the son of a famous news anchor, Greg is energetic and driven, constantly trying to put out fires and manage the show's difficult anchor. Greg and Katie butt heads when he hires her mother as an intern.
FOX's CHARITY CASE
  • FOX has given a pilot order to single camera comedy Charity Case starring Courteney Cox (Friends, Cougar Town). Robert Padnick wrote the pilot and James Griffiths will direct. Padnick, Cox and Griffiths will executive produce. 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Studios will produce. The project centers on Hailey (Cox), a woman who quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined after she inherits her late billionaire husband's charity.
