ABC has cancelled its original drama series Of Kings and Prophets, it was announced today. The drama will be removed from the schedule effective immediately following only two episodes airing in its Tuesdays at 10 time slot.
Once again, the network is calling on Shark Tank spinoff Beyond the Tank to fill the programming gap. The reality series will return to the network with new episodes airing at 10/9c. on Tuesdays starting next week (March 22). There are currently no plans to release any of the unaired episodes of Of Kings and Prophets' run.
Of Kings and Prophets got off to a horrendous start on Tuesday, March 8. It debuted to only a 0.8 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 3.326 million total viewers. It was beat in the time slot by NBC's Little Big Shots (2.9), FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson (1.2) and CBS' Limitless (1.1). The numbers continued to drop with its second episode earlier this week - falling to a 0.5 rating and 2.423 million total viewers.
The drama was described as an Epic Biblical saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle-weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny.
The cast included Ray Winstone, Olly Rix, Simone Kessell, James Floyd, Haaz Sleiman, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Jeanine Mason, Mohammad Bakri, David Walmsley, Louis Talpe, Nathaniel Parker and Christina Chong.
Adam Cooper and Bill Collage created the drama. They served as executive producers with Chris Brancato, Michael Offer, Reza Aslan, Maynard Tousi and Jason T. Reed. ABC Studios produced.
