Switched at Birth's series creator Lizzy Weiss took to Twitter this evening to announce that the drama's upcoming fifth season would be its last. The series will end after producing 103 episodes.
Weiss wrote: "This season of #SwitchedatBirth will be our final one. We are ending the show after an amazing 103 episodes with pride, love, and gratitude."
Set in Kansas City, the series centers on two teenagers who discover that they were switched at birth and grew up in different environments. The series has also been the first to have multiple deaf series regulars and scenes shot entirely in American Sign Language (ASL).
The drama stars Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Sean Berdy, Lucas Grabeel, Constance Marie, D.W. Moffett and Lea Thompson, with special guest star Marlee Matlin.
Weiss serves as executive producer with Paul Stupin, John Ziffren, Linda Gase and Becky Hartman Edwards.
