TLC is teaming with writer-producer-director Tyler Perry for Too Close to Home, an eight-part drama series which will mark the cable network's first effort with original scripted programming. The show is expected to debut later this year.
Too Close to Home centers on a young woman who achieves unparalleled success on the Washington political circuit, only to see it slip away when her affair with a married senator makes headlines. She is forced back to her trailer park beginnings, where her past and its players resurface.
TLC's corporate sibling OWN has had plenty of success with its four Perry-created series - The Haves and the Have Nots, If Loving You Is Wrong, For Better or Worse and Love Thy Neighbor. The pickup for Too Close to Home won't affect Perry's ability to continue working on his OWN shows.
