WGN America Renews 'Outsiders' for Season 2

WGN America has ordered a second season for its original drama series Outsiders, it was announced today. The 13-episode new season will premiere in 2017. The renewal means every original series on the cable network so far has gone on to produce a second season.

Outsiders centers on the Farrell clan, a family of outsiders who have been in the hills of Appalachia since before anyone can remember. Living off the grid and above the law on their mountaintop homestead, they'll protect their world and defend their way of life using any means necessary.

The cast includes David Morse, Joe Anderson, Gillian Alexy, Ryan Hurst, Kyle Gallner, Christina Jackson and Thomas M. Wright.

Peter Mattei created the drama, and executive produces with Paul Giamatti, Adam Bernstein, Peter Tolan, Michael Wimer and Dan Carey. Sony Pictures Television and Tribune Studios.

Outsiders launched in January to 1.9 million total viewers over multiple showings on premiere night - a best for the network, until Underground beat it earlier this week. Season to date, the drama is averaging 2.8 million total viewers and a 1.4 rating amongst Adults 25-54 in Live+7 data.
