ABC's Castle; CBS' NCIS; History's Six; IFC's Stan Against Evil; Netflix's Gypsy & Iron Fist; TNT's Murder in the First; and USA's Queen of the South.
NETFLIX's GYPSY
- Two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts (The Impossible, 21 Grams) has signed on to play the lead role on the upcoming drama written by Lisa Rubin. She will also be credited as an executive producer. She will play Jean Holloway, a therapist who begins to develop dangerous and intimate relationships with the people in her patients' lives.
ABC's CASTLE
- Leading lady Stana Katic is not returning to the veteran procedural should it be renewed for a ninth season. The exit is part of a cast shake-up that reportedly is designed to help cut costs for the aging series. Last year, Katic signed a one-year contract extension which expired at the end of Season 8. This year, she has not been asked back for more episodes this fall - while male lead Nathan Fillion has been in on-and-off contract negotiations for months already. The cast shake-up also extends to original series star Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie, who won't be back for another season as well.
TNT's MURDER IN THE FIRST
- Sara Paxton and Anthony Michael Hall have been cast on the drama's upcoming third season. Paxton will play Alicia Barnes, an overly sexualized pop star who's troubled path looks similar to that of her mother's. Hall will play Paul Barnes, Alicia's father who reappears in her life after she suffers an overdose.
USA's QUEEN OF THE SOUTH
- The new drama starring Alice Braga will make its series debut on Tuesday, June 21 at 10/9c. The drama stars Braga as Teresa Mendoza, a Mexican money changer who eventually rises to become a cutthroat drug cartel leader. The series also stars Justina Machado, Hemky Madera, Veronica Falcon, James Martinez, Peter Gadiot, Carlos Gomez and Joaquim de Almeida.
IFC's STAN AGAINST EVIL
- John C. McGinley (Scrubs) and Janet Varney (You're the Worst) have been cast in the lead roles on the upcoming comedy written by Dana Gould. McGinley will play Stanley "Stan" Miller, a sour, aging bulldog of a New England police sheriff who loses his job after an awkward outburst. He then befriends his replacement (Varney) in order to fight a plague of angry demons haunting their town.
HISTORY's SIX
- Four days after Joe Manganiello exited the drama, Walton Goggins (Justified, The Shield) has been tapped to replace him in the series regular role. After being delayed due to Manganiello's departure, production on the series will resume at the end of next week. Goggins will play Rip Taggart, once the squad leader of SEAL Team Six and now works in Africa protecting a small village from Boko Haram.
CBS' NCIS
- 24 alum Reiko Aylesworth will appear in an upcoming episode of the drama's thirteenth season. She will play Anne Marshall, a deployed Marine Master Sergeant's wife whose 14-year-old son foils a home invasion.
NETFLIX's IRON FIST
- Jessica Stroup (The Following) and Tom Pelphrey (Banshee) have joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Finn Jones. They will play Joy and Ward Meachum, childhood acquaintances of Daniel Rand's (Jones) who now play an important role in Rand Enterprises. Joy and Ward are the children of Harold Meachum (David Wenham) and have spent their lives building the company to its current standing in the world, only to have all their work put in jeopardy when Danny returns to claim his birthright.
