In addition to picking up drama Famous in Love today, Freeform has also given a straight-to-series order to Marvel's Cloak and Dagger based on the comic book duo of the same name. This is Freeform's first partnership with Marvel on a live-action series.
Cloak and Dagger follows Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
The Marvel characters were first introduced in the 1982 Spectacular Spider-Man series before being successfully spun off onto their own adventures.
No writer is currently attached to the series, but the search is under way with a name to be revealed shortly. Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios will produce the drama.
