CBS is adding one more drama to its lineup for the 2016-17 season. After making the bulk of its series pickups yesterday, the network has now given a series order to legal drama Doubt.
DOUBT - Sadie (Katherine Heigl, Grey's Anatomy) is a smart, chic, successful defense attorney at a boutique firm who shockingly gets involved romantically with one of her clients (Steven Pasquale, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime.
The drama also stars Dulé Hill, Laverne Cox, Dreama Walker, Kobi Libii and Elliott Gould. The series will be the first in the history of the medium to have a series regular transgender character played by a transgender actress.
Tony Phelan and Joan Rater wrote the pilot, which was directed by Adam Bernstein. They all executive produce with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly. CBS Television Studios and Timberman-Beverly Productions.
Doubt was just one of two pilots Phelan and Rater had at CBS this pilot season. The other is Nancy Drew update, Drew starring Sarah Shahi, which the network has just passed on. However, production company CBS Television Studios is said to be shopping the prospective series to other networks.
