Netflix Picks Up Period Comedy 'GLOW' Executive Produced by Jenji Kohan

Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of original comedy series GLOW, it was announced today. The series was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who serve as executive producers with Orange Is the New Black's Jenji Kohan and Tara Herrmann.

Based on the professional women's wrestling syndicated TV series that existed in the '80s, GLOW - aka Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling - centers on the female wrestling league in Los Angeles. It will feature big hair and body slams and tell the fictionalized story of an out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.

Flahive and Mensch will serve as showrunners for the first season. The 10 episode season is expected to drop on the streaming service in 2017.
