HBO's new president of programming Casey Bloys isn't wasting any time with new series orders - giving a pickup today to original comedy series Barry created by and starring Bill Hader. The comedy will premiere in 2017.
The comedy revolves around Barry (Hader) an ex-Marine who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the L.A. theater scene.
The cast also includes Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan and Glenn Fleshler.
Hader and Alec Berg wrote the pilot, which was directed by Berg. Both serve as executive producers for HBO.
