TV Land Picks Up Comedy 'Nobodies' to Series

TV Land has given a series order to original comedy series Nobodies starring Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras. Additionally, MADtv's Michael McDonald has boarded the first season as executive producer and showrunner.

Inspired by the real lives of writers Davidson, Dorf and Ramras who watched as their friends, Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, from Los Angeles-based improv and sketch comedy troupe The Groundlings went on to star in blockbuster comedies and win Oscars while they toiled away in Hollywood. The trio star as characters who try desperately to land one of their famous friends for a feature script that they have developed, so that they too can rise to fame in Hollywood.

McCarthy and Falcone will appear in recurring roles as heightened versions of themselves. They also executive produce with Davidson, Dorf and Ramras. Plus, Falcone directed the pilot. Guest stars in the pilot include Jason Bateman, Maya Rudolph, Jim Rash and Nat Faxon. On the Day Productions and JAX Media produce for TV Land.

"The initial pitch for Nobodies was really funny, and man, did they ever deliver a pilot that is so honest and bold that it'll make you laugh and cringe at the same time," said Keith Cox, Executive Vice President of Development and Original Programming, TV Land.

Added McCarthy and Falcone: "Working our hilarious and talented friends Rachel, Hugh and Larry is a complete joy. Adding a person of Mike's caliber and a network as supportive as TV Land is truly a dream come true."
