Emmy Predictions 2016 - Which Shows Will Likely Get Nominated for Comedy Series?

From June 13 to June 27, voting took place for The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. To add to the excitement of the past year in television, I'm providing analysis on which shows and performers are likely to get nominated this year. Next up is Comedy Series.

2015 Nominees:
        FX's Louie
        ABC's Modern Family
        NBC's Parks and Recreation
        HBO's Silicon Valley
        Amazon's Transparent
        Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
        HBO's Veep (WINNER)

The Comedy Series race is a lot more unpredictable than its drama series counterpart. That's because there are so many different forms of comedy that are currently thriving in television. Drama has some standouts as well but they are less likely to be nominated. In comedy, the race is more fluid. Yes, Modern Family will probably still get nominated even though it has been pretty bad for a couple of seasons now. Meanwhile, last year's nominees Veep, Transparent, Silicon Valley and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt seem like locks to return. But that doesn't feel boring. Those four shows all had fantastic seasons this last year. Plus, they could easily be joined by another dozen shows that had solid runs as well - including Master of None, black-ish, Casual, Mom, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Girls, Fresh Off the Boat and many more. The depth of this field is really exciting. It won't be the biggest or most competitive category come Emmy night in September. Veep will likely win yet again. And yet, there are just so many possibilities for nominations that makes this field so exciting to talk about and speculate over. That's what I wanted from all of these Emmy races but only a few of them have been able to provide it.
