During his executive session at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, CBS entertainment president Glenn Geller announced a third season renewal for summer drama Zoo. The new season will debut in Summer 2017.
Despite being down in the ratings year-to-year, Zoo is still the highest rated scripted series CBS is airing this summer. It has regularly been beating newcomers BrainDead and American Gothic - both of which seem like renewal longshots.
Based on the bestselling novel by James Patterson, Zoo chronicles a wave of violent animal attacks against humanity across the planet.
In its second season, the drama's cast included James Wolk, Kristen Connolly, Nonso Anozie, Nora Arnezeder, Billy Burke, Alyssa Diaz and Josh Salatin.
Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg developed the series. They executive produce with Patterson, Michael Katleman, James Mangold, Cathy Konrad, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Steve Bowen. CBS Television Studios and James Paterson Entertainment produce.
The two-hour second season finale airs Tuesday, September 6.
