SHOWTIME's WHITE FAMOUS
- Saturday Night Live star Jay Pharoah has been cast in the lead role on the comedy pilot written by Tom Kapinos. Additionally, Tim Story has joined the project as director and executive producer. Pharoah will play Floyd Mooney, a talented, young African-American comedian whose star is rising, forcing him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility as he begins to cross-over towards becoming "white famous."
SHOWTIME's MATING
- Saturday Night Live star Taran Killam has landed the lead role on the comedy pilot written by Stuart Zicherman. He will play a recently divorced guy who married young and now finds himself completely unprepared for the brave new, frank and fluid world of dating and hooking up.
SHOWTIME's SMILF
- The premium cable network has given a pilot order to comedy SMILF based on the Sundance award-winning short film from Frankie Shaw. Shaw will write, direct, produce and star in the pilot. Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky and Michael London will also executive produce. ABC Signature will produce. Set in Boston, the project takes a raw look at a single, 20-something (Shaw) whose desires for relationships, sex and a career collide with the realities of young, single motherhood.
TV LAND's AMERICAN WOMAN
- Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie) will co-star opposite Alicia Silverstone on the comedy pilot. She will play Kathleen, one of Bonnie's (Silverstone) closest friends. She yearns for love and marriage but her habit of picking up so-called "boy toys" who exploit her for her looks and her money stands in the way of her happiness.
WGN AMERICA's ROADSIDE PICNIC
- Osi Okerafor (Fury, Babylon) has booked a series regular role on the drama pilot starring Matthew Goode. He will play Captain Noonan, an Institute security officer with a nefarious agenda who's known Red (Goode) since childhood, and is a purchaser of alien artifacts on the black market.
